Portrait Pricing Details
Each portrait I create is unique and requires a number of different details to capture the desired image. The three steps below form the foundation for determining my prices. Use these guidelines to estimate the cost of your painting. Note that each order will still require a formal evaluation and receive a finalized quote from me. This quote can differ from the cost determined here due to unique painting details (a canvas size not listed below, complex lace on clothing, adding people who were not present at wedding, etc.). Tax and shipping costs are not included in the prices below. These methods are used for any portrait I create, not only for wedding artwork. If any changes in the details of the commission are made after my formal quote is provided (such as requesting more people or more detail in the background), this will result in a price change.
Step 1: Canvas Size
The baseline is a single subject or person, such as a simple bouquet or just the bride, with a plain or single color background.
16 x 20” - $750 (Portrait starting price)
18 x 24'“ - $950
24 x 30” or 30 x 30” or 24 x 36” - $1150
30 x 40” or 36 x 48” - $1500
Step 2: Per (1) Additional Subject
Each additional subject has a price. Detailed subjects (such as adding the groom for a painting at the altar or a pet as part of the focus), cost more than simplified subjects (less detailed people in the background while couple is on the dance floor, etc).
Per detailed subject - Add $500 each
Per simplified background subject - Add $75 each
Step 3: Background
Backgrounds can vary in complexity from something highly detailed to something more simplified or abstract. Detailed examples would be outdoors with trees or a venue scene with many flowers/lights/tables. Simple backgrounds can be plain walls, minimal curtains, etc. There is also the option to have no background (or a single color) at no extra cost.
Detailed (canvas under 30 x 40”) - Add $500
Detailed (30 x 40” canvas or larger) - Add $1000
Simplified (Any size) - Add $100
Additional Service: Live Wedding Painting
Painting live at the wedding venue is a new option that comes at an additional cost. For bookings in Florida, the price starts at $750. Out of state requires a specialized quote. My travel distance and the possible need for a hotel stay impact this price.
What does live painting include?
One painting started live at the wedding. The scene to be depicted is agreed upon prior to the wedding.
The capture of various high-quality reference photos to work on the painting during and after the wedding.
Up to 7 hours of painting live at the venue.
Up to 20 additional hours of painting in the studio to finalize the painting.
Requires minimum commission price of $1250 (see Steps 1-3 above).
$200 deposit required at the time of booking, non-refundable*.
Payment plans available, full payment due 2 weeks prior to the wedding.
If you book a live painting, you will get 25% off your next commission.
Optional: If local to central Florida area, a visit to the venue prior to the wedding day to finalize the area/location to be painted.
*Deposit and any additional payment for the live painting service are refundable only if I am unable to attend the wedding as planned.
